Aerosol Analyzes

The EVALI crisis related to the use of contaminated illicit products has led to greater regulatory, consumer, and industry scrutiny of vape products.

There is the recognition that better certification of components used in devices, and the physical analysis of the consumable oils and liquids is needed. More significantly, the inhaled aerosol must be fully characterized to give consumers the assurance products are not adulterated.

Consumers have a right to know what is going into their bodies and a right to expect comprehensive aerosol analysis of vapor that is produced by devices.

WI Labs offers a comprehensive characterization of device components, temperature controls, and vape aerosol from devices. Using state-of-the-art lab testing equipment, WI Labs can help manufacturers identify potential contaminants in their products, and provide certifications on product quality.

Method Development

  • The aerosol is generated using C cell M6T 510 cartridge on MC-Vac machine with a range of power and puff duration
  • The aerosol is captured in filter pads as well as impinger
  • The trapped aerosol is extracted in extraction solvent and analyzed by GC-MS, HPLC, ICP for various analytes

More than 95% of the aerosol was captured by filter paper and impinger.
